After a 9-year absence it was an absolute joy to meet my master again. I believe his new title is Great Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang. Having returned to China, he has become a Taiji superstar teaching to thousands in the new stadium in Chen Jiagou (Chen Village).
However, I was fortunate enough to have a private lesson in London last June, as well as attend the group seminars. I truly appreciate the subtle corrections to my Zhanzhuang (standing qigong) and this has made a fundamental change to my posture.
When teaching Taiji and Qigong, my focus is on posture correction and I hope that my students can experience the sensation of qi filling the arms and a sense of centering and grounding. Last week in my Morley College class a student remarked how clear her vision was after doing 10 minutes of standing in class. Often when standing in Clissold Park the trees appear more vividly green. Zhanzhuang (standing qigong) is the foundation of Chen Taiji and as Master Chen says `Heart of Joy`.
